The Season-Opener Problem

Most riders open
their season blind.
You'll open it with a plan.

January is when the peloton wakes up — WorldTour and Continental teams flood the Costa Blanca to open their own season on the same roads you'll be riding. Everyone else shows up guessing their form. You'll show up tested, with a coach who already knows your numbers and your race calendar.

01
One Month Out
A personalised prep plan from your coach, three weeks before you land — so Day 1 in Calpe starts from readiness, not zero.
02
Seven Days in Calpe
Lactate and FTP testing, structured rides at first light — ahead of the teams and the crowds — and a full profile review with your coach.
03
Three Months After
Camp doesn't end at the airport. Your coach stays with you remotely, adjusting the plan as the season actually starts.
"Most riders start the season on hope.
Yours starts on data."
Why Calpe · Why January

Same roads.
Different standard.

1
☀️

14–17°C, Even in January

While most of Europe trains in the dark and the cold, Calpe holds dry, mild conditions all January — full volume, real outdoor work, while everyone else is on the trainer.

2
⛰️

The Month WorldTour Teams Open Their Season

Coll de Rates, Puig Campana, the Guadalest valley — the same climbs UAE Team Emirates, Jumbo-Visma, and Bahrain Victorious use to open their own season here. Same roads, same month, same energy.

3
🌅

We Ride Before The Roads Fill Up

January brings the biggest crowds of the year to Calpe's climbs. We roll out early — first on the road, the best of the morning light and the atmosphere, none of the traffic jam on Coll de Rates.

Season-Launch Protocol

Test the numbers.
Build the plan.

🩸

Lactate & FTP Baseline Testing

Real physiological data, not guesswork — know your zones before you build a season on top of them.

📝

Coach-Built Prep Plan

A structured plan for the month before the camp, so you arrive ready to test your fitness — not build it from scratch.

🗓️

Race Calendar Planning

Sit down with your coach and map your 2027 races — priorities, build blocks, and what each one is actually for.

🧘

Morning Mobility & Activation

Dynamic activation and mobility before every ride. Keeps the engine running through 7 straight training days.

🥗

Athlete Nutrition

Recovery-focused meals, carb timing built around your sessions — not generic camp catering.

💬

3 Months of Remote Coaching

Camp ends, coaching doesn't. Three months of remote check-ins to keep the season on track after you fly home.

Before I build your season, I get to know the rider. Numbers tell me where you are — knowing you tells me how far you can go.

Questions

Everything you
need to know.

Which week should I choose?
Both weeks run an identical programme — Jan 4–10 or Jan 16–22, 2027. Pick whichever dates work better for your travel and season plans. Each week is capped at 14 riders.
What does the lactate/FTP testing involve?
A sports-science session on Day 2 — a structured ramp test on the bike with lactate sampling and power data, run by your coach. No lab equipment to bring; we handle the protocol. Results are explained the same afternoon and used to set your training zones for the rest of the week.
What happens after the camp ends?
You leave with a written profile, a race calendar, and three months of remote coaching — regular check-ins with Carlos as your season actually gets underway, adjusting the plan as races and results come in.
What FTP or fitness level do I need?
Comfortable holding structured Z2–Z3 efforts for 3–5 hours. This is a season-launch camp, not a race — but it rewards riders who already train with intent. You don't need to be racing fit; you need to be ready to work every day for a week.
How are pace groups organized?
By power/FTP — confirmed by your Day 2 test, or by recent ride data you share in your application beforehand. Small groups, matched pace, real coaching — not one peloton hoping for the best.
Do I need a power meter?
It helps but isn't required. Tell us what data you have in the application, and your Day 2 lactate/FTP test will confirm your zones regardless.
Is single room accommodation available?
Yes, a single room upgrade is available on request. Please mention this in your application and we'll confirm availability and the additional cost.
Can I rent a bike through the camp?
Yes. We can arrange high-quality bike rentals in Calpe. Please indicate this in your application form and we'll confirm options and pricing.
What language is the camp run in?
The camp runs in English. Portuguese, Spanish, and Ukrainian are also spoken across the team, so most riders find someone to switch to if English isn't their first language.
Is this camp suitable for women?
Absolutely — and actively encouraged. Our community is mixed and inclusive. Darina and Carlos both coach and ride, and pace groups are set by power, not gender — everyone trains at their own number.
Can you accommodate dietary needs?
The hotel restaurant offers a selection of dishes at each meal — there are always options for different preferences, including vegetarian and lighter choices. If you have specific dietary requirements or allergies, please mention them in your application and we'll inform the hotel in advance.
What if I need to cancel?
The deposit is non-refundable. Full and partial refunds follow our Cancellation Policy — we recommend travel insurance.
